We are looking for an experienced Scala Developer to join a major digital programme within a UK government organisation.
n
The successful candidate will develop and maintain both front-end and back-end applications using Scala, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions that meet business and user requirements.
n
You will need strong Scala development experience, a good understanding of Test-Driven Development and experience working with CI/CD pipelines, version control and cloud platforms.
n
Key Responsibilities

Design, develop and maintain front-end and back-end applications using Scala.
n
Work with cross-functional teams to design, develop and test technical solutions.
n
Translate business requirements into effective and maintainable applications.
n
Produce clean, high-quality and well-tested code.
n
Apply Test-Driven Development throughout the software development lifecycle.
n
Follow engineering best practices across development, testing and deployment.
n
Work with version control systems and CI/CD pipelines.
n
Contribute to technical decisions and continuous improvement initiatives.
n




Communicate technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
n
Participate in engineering communities, sharing knowledge and development best practices.
n
Support the delivery of secure, scalable and reliable digital services.
n
Previous software development experience within a UK government organisation.
n
Experience developing both front-end and back-end applications.
n
Experience using development tools and version control systems.
n
Experience working with CI/CD pipelines.
n
Knowledge of cloud platforms and services.
n
Positive understanding of agile development methodologies.
n
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
n
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
n
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

BPSS clearance is required for this role.

Location and Travel
n
The role requires attendance at the Leeds client site once per month for two consecutive days.
n
Candidates should either live within reasonable travelling distance of Leeds or be comfortable arranging an overnight stay each month.
n

Initial three-month contract.
n
Immediate start.
n
Inside IR35.
n
