Porepunkah Pub is seeking an experienced hospitality leader to join our team as Second-in-Charge (2IC). This is a senior, hands‐on operational role working closely with the Venue Manager to run the venue day‐to‐day and to build a positive, professional, high-performing team. We are looking for someone who is confident leading a team, comfortable making decisions during busy service, and willing to be hands‐on across all areas of the venue when required.
Key responsibilities n
Support the Venue Manager with the day‐to‐day running of the pub and take charge of venue operations when the Venue Manager is unavailable or off‐site.
n
Provide strong leadership and direction to front‐of‐house, bar and other operational team members.
n
Lead shifts and ensuring services are organised, efficient and delivered to a consistently high standard.
n
Support staff during busy service periods and step into operational roles when required.
n
Maintain high standards of customer service, presentation, cleanliness and professionalism throughout the venue.
n
Support the Venue Manager with staff supervision, training, development and performance expectations.
n
Help create a positive workplace where team members feel supported while also being held accountable to expected standards.
n
Ensure staff understand their roles and responsibilities during each shift.
n




Support opening and closing procedures and ensure all required operational tasks are completed correctly.
n
Assist with cash handling, till reconciliation and end‐of‐day procedures where required.
About you n
Previous hospitality experience, ideally in a busy, high-volume venue (essential)
n
Strong leadership, people‐management and communication skills (essential)
n
Strong understanding of customer service and venue operations (essential)
n
Ability to confidently lead a team during busy periods (essential)
n
Strong problem‐solving and decision‐making ability (essential)
n
Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure (essential)
n
Reliable, organised and able to work independently (essential)
n
Willingness to work across different areas of the venue when required (essential)
n
Current RSA or willingness to obtain all required certifications before commencing relevant duties (essential)
n
Prior experience in bar operations, front‐of‐house supervision, restaurant management, kitchen leadership or broader venue management (desirable)
n
This is a casual position with part‐time or full‐time growth opportunity.
