Permanent full-time position – 35 hours per week

About the role n
You will be responsible for managing an area to ensure all facets of building certification, including inspections and investigations are undertaken.
Duties n
n
Act as Principal Certifier by inspecting buildings during construction and after completion
n
Assess applications for building and environmental certificates
n
Provide construction advice to customers both internal and external
n
Inspect existing buildings to ensure an adequate level of public safety
n
Investigate and manage enquiries relating to area of expertise.
n
Skills, Qualifications & Experience n
n
Tertiary qualifications in building surveying or related discipline with a minimum registration of Building Surveyor restricted and or unrestricted (All classes of Buildings) under the Building and Development Certifiers Act ****.
n
Sound knowledge of legislation relating to development and building control, with particular regard to the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act **** and Regulations, the Local Government Act **** and Regulations and the Building Code of Australia.
n




Relevant experience / knowledge in assessment and management of applications under Part 6 of the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act ****.
n
Demonstrated understanding of the Development Control Process in NSW and in undertaking scheduled and critical stage inspections.
n
Working knowledge of Fire Safety Control (public and private buildings within NSW)
n
Knowledge of the Swimming Pools Act, Regulations and Australian Standards for construction of swimming pool barriers
n
Understanding legal procedures at the Local Court and Land and Environment Court.
n
Advanced reporting ability, both written and verbal
n
Knowledge of Work Health and Safety Principles.
n
General Construction Induction Training Card (White Card) and current class C driver's licence.
n
