Trades Assistant / Labourer - Steel Construction n
You will work in a small crew taking a building from the slab through to completion. Portal frames, purlins, roof sheeting, wall cladding, guttering, flashings and roller doors. Site set out and footings one week, roof and cladding the next. You will work at height on scissor lifts, use a wide range of power tools, and move between sites regularly. One project might be a rural shed on open acreage, the next an industrial building, the one after that a residential carport. Because Upspec carries out its own earthworks and operates its own crane truck, you work across the whole build rather than one stage of it. All of our work is within about an hour of Penrith. No fly in fly out, and no accommodation away from home.

About you
n
A current White Card (legal requirement for site access)
n
A current driver licence and reliable transport to site
n
Reliability and ability to be counted on by others in small crews
n




Willingness to work outdoors in all conditions and take direction on an active construction site
n
Experience in steel erection, elevated work platform ticket or forklift ticket (preferred but not required)

Hours 7:00am to 3:30pm with paid fifteen minute morning break at 9:00am and half hour lunch at midday

Pay is weekly, every Thursday
n
The last Monday of every month is a paid rostered day off
n
The business closes the last Friday before Christmas and reopens the Monday after Recent Year
n
We pay for your tickets: Elevated work platform, forklift, and anything else the work requires
n
Career progression: Upspec promotes from within. Skilled Assistant, Leading Hand, Supervisor, Construction Manager positions are filled from our own crew
