A Regional Queensland Council is seeking an experienced Senior HR Advisor to provide practical, responsive support across its workforce.
n
This six-month fixed-term contract can be undertaken remotely, although onsite participation in Central West Queensland is preferred where possible. Accommodation can be arranged for the successful candidate if working onsite.
n
You will partner with leaders and employees to resolve workplace matters, strengthen HR practices and keep priority people initiatives moving.

About the Role n
Working closely with Council leaders, you will provide sound and timely advice across operational and strategic HR matters.
n
n
Provide practical advice on employee relations, performance and workplace matters
n
Support managers to interpret awards, legislation, policies and employment conditions
n
Manage workplace issues with professionalism, fairness and confidentiality
n
Assist with recruitment, onboarding and workforce planning activities




n
Review and improve HR policies, procedures, templates and supporting resources
n
Guide leaders through performance development and employee support processes
n
Maintain accurate case records, correspondence and HR documentation
n
Identify people-related risks and recommend practical solutions
n
Contribute to priority HR projects throughout the contract period
n
About You n
You will be a confident HR generalist who can quickly understand an organisation, build credibility and provide balanced advice.
n
n
Demonstrated experience in a senior HR advisory or comparable generalist role
n
Sound knowledge of Australian employment legislation, awards and contemporary HR practice
n
Strong employee relations, case management and problem-solving capability
n
Ability to communicate complex employment matters in explicit and practical terms
n
Confidence working independently while maintaining strong relationships remotelyWell-developed judgement, discretion and attention to detail
n
Availability to commence promptly and contribute for the full contract term
n
A relevant qualification in human resources, business or a related discipline will be highly regarded
n
Previous Local Government or public sector experience will be highly regarded
n
