Economic Development Officer (Ref: ****)

About the position:
The City has a unique and exciting opportunity available for a motivated professional to join the City Growth branch and contribute to shaping the City of Greater Geraldton as a connected, sustainable and thriving place to live.
This role will suit an experienced person looking to broaden their impact and offers the prospect to support and deliver the City's economic development priories, align economic development activities with organisational priories and provide advice on matters relating to business, industry and economic development.
Key accountabilities:
Work collaboratively with the Manager City Growth to manage the delivery of the City's Economic Development Plan.
Provide research, analysis and advice on economic trends, investment opportunities, business needs and emerging issues relevant to the City's economic development objectives.
Lead the development of strategic and operational frameworks, documents, programs and programs that guide the City's economic development activities.
Establish and maintain productive working relationships with external stakeholders to identify opportunities, address barriers and support economic growth.
Position requirements:
We are seeking candidates with experience contributing to or managing projects, including planning,



coordination and budget monitoring, along with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
The role requires the ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships, supported by clear communication and interpersonal skills.
Sound judgement and a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach to balancing multiple inputs and perspectives are essential in this diverse environment.
Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.
Remuneration and benefits:
A salary ranging from $113,458 to $118,700 per annum pro rata will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
Selection Criteria:
Previous experience contributing to economic development studies, plans, policies and projects;
Demonstrated understanding of or appreciation for legislative and regulatory frameworks with the ability to interpret and navigate requirements, exercise sound judgement and deliver pragmatic outcomes;
Demonstrated skills in strategic project management, including developing briefs, budget monitoring, and managing key stakeholder relationships; and
Demonstrated ability to recognise challenges and apply initiative in supporting workable economic development outcomes.
