About QIMR Berghofer:

About the Cerebellum & Neurodegeneration Research Group (CNRG):
The
CNRG
uses behavioural and biological assessments to investigate the expression and progression of brain changes in people with degenerative neurological conditions, with a primary focus on rare inherited movement disorders.
We focus on translational application of cutting-edge imaging, biofluid, and digital technologies and analysis approaches to develop disease biomarkers and provide new insights into disease manifestation.
Role Purpose / Responsibilities:

Research Assistant - Research Registry & Community Engagement Officer (Part-Time, 2-3 days/week; 0.4 to 0.6FTE)
The following duties will apply:
Grow and maintain the Australian Cerebellar Ataxia Registry (CARe),



ensuring data completeness and up-to-date registry records through interaction with participants, collaborating clinicians, consumer partners, and researchers.
Facilitate the delivery of research projects through the registry and associated digital platforms.
Support public-facing communications through newsletters and social media posts, including the design and oversight of fundraising and engagement campaigns.
Assist with coordination of the consumer ambassador program, which embeds the consumer voice in research activities.
Contribute to general day-to-day lab activities as requested to assist with research conduct.
About you:
You are required to have:
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Nursing or Allied Health or a related field, with experience in clinical research or community engagement settings.
Experience working with older-age people with debilitating health conditions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the demonstrated ability to flexibly interact with a wide variety of stakeholders, including consumers, doctors, and researchers.
Proficiency in managing research data,



including familiarity with data curation tools like REDCap - not mandatory but highly sought-after.
Experience with social media platforms and content creation (e.g., Instagram, LinkedIn).
Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively, contributing to a positive team culture.
Remuneration:
Salary range is $78,438 to $91,763 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) p.a.* plus superannuation and salary packaging.
This is a part-time 0.4 FTE - 0.6 FTE (2-3 days per week) position for one year, with the possibility of extension depending on performance and funding.
Pro-rata salary details: 0.4FTE - $31,375 to $36,705 p.a.
Pro-rata salary details: 0.6FTE - $47,062 to $55,058 p.a.
Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
