As a valued member of our café team, you'll prepare and present delicious meals, maintain high food safety standards, and contribute to a welcoming dining experience for our customers and community.
About the Role n
As a Casual Cook, you will:
n
n
Prepare and cook menu items to a consistently high standard
n
Ensure attractive food presentation and portion control
n
Maintain a clean, organised, and compliant kitchen environment
n
Monitor stock levels and communicate ordering requirements
n
Follow food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety requirements
n
Work efficiently during busy service periods while maintaining quality
n
Support café operations, opening and closing duties, and team collaboration
n
Assist with customer enquiries and special dietary requests professionally
n
About You n
To be successful in this role, you will have:
n
n
Previous experience as a Cook, ideally within a café, restaurant, or similar hospitality workplace
n
Sound knowledge of food preparation techniques and food safety practices
n
Strong organisational and time management skills
n
A positive,



hands-on attitude and willingness to support the team
n
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
n
A commitment to quality, professionalism, and customer service
n
Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends
n
Qualifications / Experience Required n
n
Proven experience as a cook, preferably in a café or similar setting
n
Strong knowledge of cooking techniques and food safety regulations
n
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
n
A proactive and team- orientated mindset, always ready to help where needed
n
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
n
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
n
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends
n
HLTFSE001 – Follow Basic Food Safety Practices
n
HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid
n
Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate (RSA)
n

Cert III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent) (desired)

Previous experience in a kitchen (cafés, restaurants, pubs, or catering)

Strong knowledge of food hygiene practices and kitchen safety standards

Working with Children Check
