Join a State Government finance team and contribute to the delivery of capital budgeting, asset accounting and strategic financial management activities.
About the Opportunity n
Working within Strategic Investments and Enterprise Finance, the successful candidate will join the Capital Maintenance and Asset Accounting Team and play a key role in supporting the department's capital investment program and asset management functions.
n
Reporting to the Manager, Capital Maintenance and Asset Accounting, this position will provide financial analysis, reporting and advisory services relating to capital projects, asset accounting and budget management.
n
The role offers exposure to complex financial management issues and provides an opportunity to work closely with senior management, Queensland Treasury and key stakeholders.
Key Contributions n
n
Prepare and analyse monthly capital project reports, reconciliations, briefing notes and presentations
n
Provide financial insights and recommendations relating to capital and asset management activities
n
Contribute to the development and review of capital management policies, procedures and financial controls
n
Provide professional advice on Capital Work-in-Progress, asset acquisitions and associated accounting treatments
n
Ensure compliance with Queensland Treasury Financial Reporting Requirements, Australian Accounting Standards and relevant government policies
n
Support the management of the agency's annual capital budget and budget revisions
n
Ensure capital budget information is accurately reflected across Queensland Treasury Budget Papers, Tridata and internal reporting systems
n
Build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, Queensland Treasury and external service providers
n




Support the development and maintenance of effective internal controls across capital and asset accounting processes
n
Prepare financial information and reports for senior management, auditors and other key stakeholders
n
Maintain current knowledge of accounting standards, financial legislation and best practice asset accounting principles
n
Provide support to the Manager, Capital Maintenance and Asset Accounting as required
n
About You To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate n
n
Strong experience in management accounting, capital accounting or asset accounting roles
n
Sound knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and government financial management frameworks
n
Experience preparing complex financial reports, reconciliations and budget analyses
n
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
n
Ability to communicate financial information effectively to a range of stakeholders
n
Proven stakeholder engagement skills and ability to build effective working relationships
n
Experience working with financial systems and reporting tools
n
Highly Desirable n
n
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or Commerce
n
Membership or eligibility for membership with CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ), or the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA)
n
Previous experience in a similar role within government or public sector
