What you'll be doing
Planning and preparing balanced, nutritious meals and snacks that meet the dietary requirements and preferences of children across all age groups
Adhering to food safety, hygiene and allergen management protocols to ensure the health and safety of all children
Managing kitchen operations, including food ordering, inventory control, stock rotation and equipment maintenance
Accommodating special dietary needs, cultural preferences and allergies as required
Working collaboratively with educators and families to ensure meals align with the centre's nutrition policies and individual child requirements
Maintaining accurate records of meal preparation, food temperatures and allergen information
Keeping the kitchen environment clean,



organised and compliant with relevant food handling legislation and standards
Supporting the centre's commitment to sustainable practices through waste reduction and appropriate food sourcing
Assisting with special events, celebrations and menu planning as needed
What we're looking for
Recognised qualification in commercial cookery or food preparation, or equivalent demonstrated experience in a professional kitchen environment
Current Blue card, first aid and CPR
Willing to obtain Food safety supervisor training & Child safety training
Knowledge of food safety standards relevant to food service in childcare settings
Understanding of child nutrition requirements and ability to prepare age-appropriate meals and snacks
Familiarity with managing allergies, intolerances and special dietary requirements in a childcare context
Strong organisational and time management skills to manage multiple meal preparations and kitchen operations
Excellent hygiene practices and attention to detail in food preparation and storage
Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with educators and families
Flexibility and willingness to adapt menus based on feedback and changing requirements
Previous experience in a childcare or early education setting is highly valued but not mandatory
