Applications are welcomed from experienced Teachers of the Deaf and early career teachers.
The Centre for Deaf Education (CDE) at Avenues College is a secondary setting supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in Years 7-12. The CDE provides a specialised bilingual/bimodal learning environment where students are supported to develop their Auslan and English language, literacy and curriculum skills. Students have a diverse range of communication, language, learning and additional needs, and teaching programs are designed to provide high-quality, accessible and appropriately differentiated learning experiences.
As a Teacher of the Deaf, you will plan and deliver engaging learning programs across the curriculum, with a solid focus on language, literacy and student access. You will work collaboratively with Teachers of the Deaf, SSOs, mainstream teachers, families and external professionals to support positive educational and wellbeing outcomes for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
What you will do:

- Plan, teach and assess differentiated learning programs for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students across Years 7-12.
- Provide explicit teaching of language,



literacy and curriculum vocabulary through accessible and evidence-informed approaches.
- Support students across a range of communication, language, learning and additional needs.
- Work collaboratively with Teachers of the Deaf, SSOs, mainstream teachers, families and support professionals.
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive and culturally responsive learning environment that values Deaf identity, Auslan and student voice.
- Monitor student progress and use assessment data to inform teaching and learning.

What you will bring:
- A strong understanding of, or interest in developing knowledge of, Deaf education and the educational needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
