Management Accountant / Finance Business Partner

Position Overview

The Management Accountant / Finance Business Partner, with a strong focus on capital expenditure, supports financial reporting, capital project accounting, and finance systems optimisation across Perth-based projects and the broader business. This role combines core management accounting responsibilities with capex reporting and opportunities to contribute to finance transformation initiatives, ERP enhancements, and workflow improvement projects.

Working closely with finance, project teams, site-based capital accountants, and systems stakeholders, this role is responsible for accurate reporting, strong financial controls, and continuous process improvement. It suits a proactive finance professional who enjoys working across both complex project accounting and financial systems development.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting and Month-End

- Complete month-end accounting activities for Perth projects in partnership with project and cost accountants.
- Prepare monthly cost analysis and management reports to support informed decision-making.
- Perform capital expenditure analysis, including variance analysis and reporting.
- Manage monthly cash call reporting and forecasting for project or joint venture stakeholders, where applicable.
- Maintain system reconciliations to support financial accuracy and data integrity.
- Assist in the preparation of forecasts and budgets for Perth-managed capital projects.

Capital Projects and Governance
- Partner with capital projects teams on major capex initiatives, providing commercial and financial insights.




- Support the development and improvement of Approval for Capital Expenditure reporting processes and workflow design within the ERP.
- Collaborate with capital stakeholders on business-wide capital initiatives and reporting frameworks.
- Coordinate stakeholder deliverables and resolve queries relating to capital project performance.
- Act as a key contact for audit queries relating to capital projects.

Systems and Process Transformation
- Work with ERP systems teams to support system enhancements, automation, and development initiatives.
- Identify and implement process improvements across project accounting and broader finance functions.
- Contribute to ERP upgrades and finance transformation initiatives to improve reporting capability and scalability.
- Support governance and controls framework initiatives.

Operational Support
- Oversee governance related to project creation and cost-code structures within the ERP.
- Review and process high-level payment authorisations in line with delegated authority limits.
- Support ad hoc financial modelling, analysis, and reporting requests.
- Maintain a personal development plan and participate in ongoing professional development.

Skills and Experience

- Robust management accounting experience with well-developed financial reporting and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated experience in capital project accounting within an asset-intensive environment.
- Hands-on experience with financial systems; exposure to ERP platforms such as Pronto or JDE is advantageous.
- Experience in workflow optimisation, process mapping, or systems implementation.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with a broad stakeholder group and manage competing priorities.
- High attention to detail, strong analytical capability, and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Experience in mining, oil and gas, resources, or a similar industry is highly regarded.

Qualifications

- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- CA, CPA, or equivalent professional qualification.
