About the role The Aboriginal Business Development & Engagement Officer is responsible for delivering the SA Trading Tracks (SATT) program by building strong and trusted relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses, community organisations, referral partners, government agencies, and industry stakeholders. The role works directly with businesses at all stages of development, from individuals considering self-employment through to established business owners seeking growth opportunities. The successful candidate will provide practical support, facilitate referrals, connect businesses with opportunities and services, coordinate engagement activities, and help create positive business outcomes across the region.

This is a highly relationship-focused position that combines stakeholder engagement, business support, event participation, networking, and administration.

Key responsibilities

- Develop and maintain strong relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses throughout the region.
- Build trusted relationships with referral partners, government agencies, industry organisations, training providers, community groups, and service providers.
- Act as a key point of contact for businesses participating in the SATT program.
- Regularly engage with businesses to understand their needs, goals, opportunities, and challenges.
- Provide ongoing support to Aboriginal businesses at any stage of business development.
- Assist businesses to identify goals, priorities, and growth opportunities.
- Connect businesses with services, programs, funding opportunities, procurement pathways, training, mentoring, and specialist advice.
- Facilitate referrals to appropriate support providers and maintain contact throughout the referral process.
- Coordinate and attend business support activities, workshops, networking events, information sessions, and stakeholder meetings.
- Maintain accurate participant records, engagement notes,



referral records, and activity tracking.

About you

- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to engage respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities.
- Experience working in community engagement, stakeholder engagement, business support, economic development, client services, or a related field.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications and maintaining accurate records.
- Current Driver's Licence.
- Willingness and ability to travel throughout the Upper Spencer Gulf and Far North regions.
- Experience supporting Aboriginal businesses, entrepreneurs, or community organisations (desirable).
