Pathology Queensland are excited to welcome applications for an Administration Officer to join the Public Health Virology team in Coopers Plains! Pathology Queensland (PQ) provides diagnostic pathology services to all Hospital and Health Services (HHS) across metro, regional and remote Queensland and plays a critical role in the government's response to public health threats, epidemics, and civil emergencies.

About the role:

The Public and Environmental Health Reference (PEHR) Laboratories perform public health surveillance, outbreak response and analysis for diseases, vectors and environmental contaminants which are of public health importance.

As an Administration Office, you will be accountable for leading the effective and timely delivery delivery and implementation of a range of HR services, projects and initiatives across Queensland Health.

Your key responsibilities include:

- Coordinate and provide high level specialist business management support services under broad direction of the Chief Scientist whilst maintaining discretion and confidentiality with sensitive material and information.
- Maintain accuracy and efficiency through exemplary keyboard and data entry skills utilising contemporary software packages including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power Point.
- Work with a high degree of independence on a regular basis whilst utilising discretion in instances where the Chief Scientist is absent.
- Lead and support regulatory activities, ensuring all relevant legislative, administrative and professional standards are met.




- Engage with laboratory scientists, laboratory technicians and clinical assistants to proactively contribute to a positive workplace culture with a strong teamwork focus. Sustain positive relationships with colleagues and clients whilst remaining responsive to changes in a work unit and client needs; always aiming for optimal delivery of PHV services.
- Provide the first point of client contact for the unit and attend to telephone and reception enquiries from internal and external laboratory clients.
- Compile reports as required from contemporary software packages including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Content Manager (Record Keeping), DSS, S4HANA and myHR.
- Prioritise workload to ensure that stringent timeframes of the team are satisfied.
- Assist the Team with human resource administrative paperwork including collation of timesheets for approval and completion of time and attendance records.
- Examine incoming correspondence and determine actions and priorities and, where necessary, prepare appropriate replies for consideration and/or dispatch.

Role fit: You will bring robust interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills,



with the ability to contribute positively to the Public Health Virology team, build effective relationships with key stakeholders, and confidently support conflict prevention, negotiation and resolution. You will demonstrate strong planning and prioritisation skills to effectively manage customer service functions in line with the Department's strategic direction, along with proficiency in computerised systems and accurate data entry. You will also be able to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders, communicate clearly, and positively influence others.
