Our state government client is hiring an experienced governance and assurance professional to lead AI governance coordination, assurance activities, audit remediation and executive reporting, supporting the implementation of scalable AI governance arrangements and compliance with NSW Government AI requirements In general, this role will create, maintain and manage quality governance and assurance processes and procedures to promote efficiency, validity, value and the functional performance of IT. The role will lead and coordinate implementation of AI governance, assurance and compliance activities, including alignment with NSW Government AI requirements and internal assurance frameworks.

Key Skills

· Maintain the AI governance work program, including coordination of AI assessments, register quality and explicit escalation of high-risk or overdue matters.

· Progress priority actions arising from audit, assurance and policy commitments, with evidence maintained for closure and executive oversight.

· Support implementation of the AI governance operating model, including clearer ownership,

decision rights, lifecycle controls and the distinction between platform and use-case governance.

· Coordinate scheduled executive governance meetings and associated governance reporting.

· Progress Copilot and AI agent governance artefacts including development or revision of existing processes as scalable AI

· Maintain stakeholder engagement with business owners,



subject matter experts and control functions to resolve blocked assessments and reduce avoidable administrative hand-offs.

· Document status, decisions, key contacts, outstanding risks and next steps to support a handover before the engagement ends.

Key Accountabilities

- AI Governance and Assurance - Coordinate AI governance activities, assessments, registers and compliance processes to support adherence to NSW Government requirements and departmental governance obligations.
- Audit, Risk and Compliance Management - Progress audit, assurance and policy actions to closure, maintaining evidence, monitoring risks and escalating high-risk or overdue matters for executive oversight.
- Governance Operations and Reporting - Coordinate governance forums, prepare executive reporting and maintain accurate records of decisions, actions, risks and governance outcomes to support informed decision-making.
- AI Governance Uplift and Stakeholder Engagement - Develop and improve AI governance artefacts, and processes while engaging business owners, subject matter experts and control functions to resolve issues and support scalable AI adoption.

Essential Skills and Experience / Inherent Requirements:

- NSW Artificial Intelligence (AI) governance exposure, in particular AI assessments




- Strong AI governance, risk and assurance capability, including experience implementing governance frameworks, controls, policies and compliance obligations.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating governance processes, assessments, reviews and assurance activities across multiple stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of AI lifecycle governance, including governance ownership, decision rights, escalation pathways and control frameworks.
- Experience maintaining governance registers, tracking actions, monitoring compliance obligations and escalating overdue or high-risk matters.
- Good written communication skills with the ability to prepare executive reports, governance papers, briefing notes, action registers and audit evidence.
- Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities, maintain accurate records and deliver quality outcomes within tight timeframes.
- Good stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills, with the ability to influence outcomes, resolve issues and coordinate subject matter experts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify governance gaps, assess risks and recommend practical improvements.

Daily rate-$800+super Location-Paramatta

Contract- Tilll Dec 26 with possible extension
