Care Origin is an NDIS-registered provider based in Melbourne’s western suburbs. We support people with disability to build independence, develop everyday skills and participate in their communities through personalised support and allied health services.
We are looking for a caring, reliable and enthusiastic Allied Health Assistant (AHA) to join our team on a casual basis.
About the role
You will support participants to work towards their goals by delivering therapy activities developed and delegated by our Occupational Therapists and Speech Pathologists. Sessions may take place at our Melton clinic, participants’ homes, schools or community settings.
You will work under the direction and supervision of the relevant clinician, with activities matched to your training, experience and demonstrated skills.
Casual hours will depend on participant bookings, service needs and your availability.
Your responsibilities
- Deliver delegated therapy activities that help participants practise communication, play,motor skills, daily living skills and community participation, as outlined in their therapy plans.
- Prepare for sessions, including organising resources, equipment and activities in line with the supervising clinician’s instructions.
- Record session observations and progress, complete timely case notes and communicate feedback or concerns to the supervising therapist.
- Build positive relationships with participants, families and carers while respecting individual preferences, communication needs and cultural backgrounds.
- Maintain safe and organised therapy spaces, follow infection-control procedures and participate in supervision, training and team discussions.
This is an assistant role. Assessments,
therapy planning and clinical decisions remain with the supervising allied health skilled; you will implement the activities delegated to you within your agreed scope.
About you
You are patient, approachable and organised, with a genuine interest in helping people develop their skills and confidence. You can follow a written therapy plan, communicate clearly and recognise when to seek guidance.
A Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance or relevant allied health qualifications would be highly regarded. Experience supporting children, people with disability or participants in therapy programs is desirable.
You will also need
- An NDIS Worker Screening clearance and a Victorian employee Working with Children Check before commencing participant-facing work.
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates, or willingness to obtain these before commencement.
- A current driver’s licence and the ability to travel to appointments around Melton and surrounding suburbs.
- Australian working rights, sound computer skills and a commitment to confidentiality, participant safety and professional conduct.
What we offer Work alongside allied health clinicians and other AHAs, with clinical guidance and administrative support. You will gain practical experience delivering established therapy programs across different settings and supporting participants to achieve meaningful everyday goals.
A company vehicle is available for approved community sessions, subject to scheduling and availability. Your availability and suitable working arrangements will be discussed during the recruitment process.
