About the Opportunity

Whether you're an established arts leader or ready to step up into your first Manager role, Bawinanga Homelands Aboriginal Corporation is seeking an Art Centre Manager to lead Maningrida Arts &

- Culture in Central-West Arnhem Land, with flexibility to consider more senior candidates.

You'll take strategic and operational leadership of a nationally significant art centre, guiding artists across 12 distinct language groups and working alongside a stable, experienced team, many of whom have been with the centre for over 20 years. Reporting to the COO, you'll balance genuine commercial performance with deep respect for cultural protocols and community ownership.

Duties

- Implement the Art Centre's strategic plan, including an enhanced commercial strategy in line with BHAC's broader strategy

- Lead the production, presentation, exhibition and sale of artwork through the Art Centre, gallery and retail partners

- Protect artists' intellectual property, copyright and Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP)

- Manage artwork records, cataloguing and stock control using the SAM database

- Develop exhibition proposals and manage relationships with galleries, museums and art fairs

- Pursue grant and funding opportunities, including applications and acquittal reporting

- Lead,



mentor and supervise a team of up to 10 staff

- Oversee Art Centre budgets and maintain compliance with financial delegations and procurement requirements

Skills &

- Experience

- Tertiary qualification in arts, arts management, art history or a related discipline (or equivalent relevant experience)

- Good commercial acumen and robust people management and organisational skills

- Genuine cross-cultural competency and a sound understanding of the Australian Indigenous visual arts sector

- Current manual driver licence, Ochre Card, National Police Check and First Aid Certificate (or ability to obtain)

- Experience within an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation or remote community setting highly regarded
