ABOUT THE ROLE

Barker College is currently seeking an Assistant Director – Digital Learning based at our Hornsby campus.

This will be a Permanent Full-Time (1.0FTE) role commencing 1 January 2027.

Barker College runs an orientation event for new staff on 20 January 2027, prior to the whole staff returning for Professional Development on 22 January 2027.

The Assistant Director – Digital Learning provides strategic and operational leadership for digital learning across the School. Working within the Teaching Innovation Team, the role connects digital platforms, curriculum, pedagogy, assessment and professional learning to strengthen the quality and impact of teaching and learning.

The successful candidate will

- Lead the development, implementation and ongoing review of the School’s digital learning strategy.
- Provide leadership and educational governance for Canvas LMS, assessment, mark books and feedback workflows.
- Lead research-informed approaches to digital pedagogy and build teacher capability through professional learning, coaching and collaboration.
- Provide educational leadership for the purposeful use of digital tools and devices for learning.
- Work closely with Heads of Department and teaching teams to understand needs, support change and strengthen effective practice.
- Evaluate digital tools and emerging technologies to ensure their use is educationally purposeful, sustainable and aligned with School priorities.
- Collaborate closely with ICT and other teams to ensure digital platforms and services effectively support teaching and learning.
- Contribute to wider Teaching Innovation initiatives spanning curriculum, professional learning, assessment, research and innovation.

We are seeking an accomplished and highly effective classroom practitioner with demonstrated experience in digital learning, teaching innovation or educational technology. The successful candidate will bring strong educational judgement,
