The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking an Assistant Manager, Multi-Agency Panel Secretariat to provide a critical role within the Post Sentence Branch.
About the Business Unit
Corrections Victoria manages Victoria's adult corrections system and works to enhance community safety through the safe management and rehabilitation of offender The Post Sentence Branch provides oversight of Victoria's post-sentence scheme, supporting the management of serious sex and violent offenders subject to ongoing supervision or detention under the Serious Offenders Act 2018.
The Multi Agency Panel brings together executive representatives from DJCS, the Department of Health, the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing, and Victoria Police to coordinate service responses, manage risk, and resolve complex cross-agency issues.
About the Role The Multi-Agency Panel Secretariat supports the effective and efficient operation of the Multi-Agency Panel and acts as a central point for information sharing and interdepartmental liaison. The Secretariat is responsible for coordinating service planning, supporting complex case management arrangements, and facilitating the resolution of service gaps and escalations.
Reporting to the Manager, Multi-Agency Panel Secretariat, the Assistant Manager plays a key leadership role, working collaboratively with senior stakeholders across government agencies to support the operation of the Panel and improve outcomes for individuals with complex needs. The role requires highly developed stakeholder management, communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills, together with the ability to navigate complex legislative and service delivery environments.
Please note: this role involves regular exposure to sensitive and explicit material relating to responsible sex and serious violent offending.
Key responsibilities include
- Managing the development and review of Coordinated Service Plans for individuals with complex needs and presenting matters to the Multi-Agency Panel.
- Building and maintaining productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support coordinated service delivery and information sharing.
- Managing service gaps, blockages and escalations affecting offenders subject to post-sentence orders.
- Providing strategic and operational advice to support the effective operation of the Panel and Secretariat.
- Project managing systemic service issues and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the post-sentence service system.
- Leading and supporting staff within the Secretariat to achieve high-quality outcomes and maintain strong service delivery standards.

- Proven experience working within a complex service delivery environment, ideally supporting individuals with multiple and complex needs and/or operating within a legislative framework.
- Strong ability to interpret and apply legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines to inform sound decision-making.
- Experience in the criminal justice, forensic health, disability or related human services sectors.
- Highly developed stakeholder management, communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence outcomes across multiple agencies.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving capability, with ex perience managing complex issues and driving practical solutions.
- Experience leading teams, fostering collaboration and delivering results in challenging and sensitive environments.
- Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience working in a correctional, forensic health, disability, community services, or other related environment operating within a legislative framework are desirable but not mandatory.
