Driving Mobility is a growing Australian business specialising in wheelchair-accessible vehicles, vehicle mobility modifications, and accessible vehicle hire and lease.

We are looking for a reliable, hands-on Workshop / Technical All-Rounder to join our team.

Wide-ranging hands-on role for a capable all-rounder with useful automotive, electrical, mechanical or fabrication skills who wants to keep learning, solving problems and improving.

Description

We are looking for a practical all-rounder who already has useful hands-on skills and wants a role with variety. You may come from automotive, auto electrical, accessory fitting, mechanical, fabrication, welding, maintenance or another practical background.

Our workshop modifies vehicles for people with disabilities. Work can include vehicle electrical integration and tapping into factory functions, hand controls, wheelchair access equipment, hoists, seating systems, mechanical and electrical fault finding, fabrication, modification and one-off problem solving.

Some jobs require measuring, cutting, drilling, fastening, welding or making a part from scratch. Others involve diagnosing an electrical problem, working out how to interface with a vehicle, installing equipment or finding a better way to complete a job.

We also have the capability to design and manufacture parts in-house using Fusion 360 CAD, 3D printing and CNC equipment, including a CNC router for 2400 x 1200 mm sheet material. These are not core requirements for the role, but experience or interest in this area is useful and there is room to learn.

We also want to improve how workshop knowledge is captured. Useful job notes, photos, videos, diagrams and procedures should become part of the job rather than valuable knowledge disappearing when the vehicle leaves.

What we are looking for

- Strong practical ability and good hand-eye coordination.
- Automotive, electrical, mechanical,



fabrication or similar hands-on experience.
- Curiosity and the ability to work through unfamiliar problems.
- Initiative - see what needs doing and get it done.
- A willingness to keep learning rather than simply repeat what you already know.
- Ability to work independently while asking when something is uncertain.
- Care for workmanship, customers' vehicles, tools and workshop standards.
- Willingness to help wherever required - this is an all-rounder role, not a narrow .

Useful skills - not a checklist Automotive electrical, vehicle accessories, mechanical work, diagnostics, fabrication, welding, machining, vehicle modifications, disability equipment, CAD/design, technical documentation, computers or similar experience are all useful. Nobody is expected to have every skill. If you already bring several, great; if there are areas you want to develop, there is plenty here to learn.

The opportunity

We are looking for someone who wants to contribute, learn and improve. The role can develop around the right person's strengths while exposing them to a much broader range of technical work.

Operating Hours

Driving Mobility operates a 38-hour work week, with the automotive workshop hours being:

· Monday to Thursday: 7 am to 3:45

· Monday to Friday: 7 am to 12 pm (early finish on Friday)

Please Note:

Successful Candidate will require to provide or obtain valid National Police Clearance and NDIS Workers Clearance to meet company requirements to hold and maintain NDIS & other provider compliance & registration.

Pay: $40.00 – $50.00 per hour

Expected hours: 38.0 per week
