We are seeking an energetic, reliable, and skilled Casual Barista / All-Rounder to join our new cafe opening in October in Sherwood. In this role, you will be the face of the coffee kiosk during peak morning rushes, dialing in shots, delivering silky milk, engaging with our regulars, and ensuring quick grab-and-go service.
Shift Times: Early weekday mornings (from 5:00 AM) and weekend morning/afternoon trade.
Key Responsibilities
- Espresso Extraction & Beverage Craft: Dial in coffee daily using grind-by-weight methodology; pull consistent, balanced shots; and steam velvety micro-foam (dairy and alternative milks) under high-volume pressure.
- Cold Bar Execution: Assemble signature iced drinks, botanical refreshers, and ceremonial matcha quickly and consistently.
- Counter Service & POS: Greet customers warmly, take orders accurately via our POS tablet, and handle tap-and-go transactions with a focus on commuter speed.
- Food Assembly & Warming: Warm and press pre-made artisan toasties, and focaccias using commercial contact presses in under 90 seconds (no heavy cooking or raw food prep required).
- Kiosk Sanitation & Restock: Maintain strict food hygiene, complete opening/closing cleaning checklists,
restock packaging, and sanitize equipment throughout the shift.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience: Minimum 1+ years of specialty coffee barista experience in a fast-paced cafe or kiosk environment.
- Technical Skills: Confident with dialing in espresso, grind adjustments, and basic latte art (not essential)
- Speed & Composure: Ability to maintain a clean, organized workstation while keeping wait times low during peak commuter rushes.
- Punctuality & Reliability: Genuine morning person with reliable transport for 6:00 AM starts.
- Right to Work: Must hold valid working rights in Australia.
