Ride Bellerive is an independent, family-owned bike shop that has been selling, servicing and talking bikes in Hobart for more than 25 years. We’re a busy workshop and retail store with a strong focus on quality workmanship, honest advice and looking after our customers as if they were our mates - which they often are!

We’re looking for a reliable and motivated Bicycle Mechanic / Sales & Service Specialist to join our team.

About the role

This is a varied, hands-on position combining workshop work, customer service and retail sales. You’ll be involved in the complete customer experience - from the first conversation and booking a bike into the workshop, through to carrying out the repair and handing back a bike that is running beautifully.

What you’ll be doing

- Building, servicing and repairing bikes to a high standard
- Assessing bikes and recommending appropriate repairs
- Booking and managing workshop jobs and service schedules
- Keeping customers informed about repairs, costs and timeframes
- Helping customers choose the right bikes, parts and accessories
- Providing clear, practical and honest advice
- Answering phone calls, emails and general enquiries
- Supporting the everyday operation of the shop
- Keeping the workshop and retail areas clean and organised

What we’re looking for





- Previous experience working with bikes in a workshop or retail environment
- Good mechanical knowledge and strong attention to detail
- A genuine interest in bikes and riding
- Confidence talking with customers and explaining technical information clearly
- An ability to recommend products based on the customer’s actual needs
- Good time management skills and the ability to prioritise jobs
- A calm and practical approach when things get busy
- Someone who works well in a small team and is prepared to jump in wherever needed
- Availability to work Saturdays

Experience using Lightspeed Retail or a similar point-of-sale and workshop management system would be an advantage. Formal bicycle mechanic qualifications are welcome but aren’t essential - we’re more interested in your experience, attitude, mechanical ability and willingness to keep learning.
