Position Brief - Engineering Fabricator

About the team

Fleet Services supports the City by providing maintenance, technical and fabrication services across a diverse range of vehicles, plant, equipment and infrastructure.

Our Fabrication team provides Council-wide boilermaker/welding and fabrication services, supporting customers and projects across different areas of the City. The team undertakes a broad range of work including repairs and modifications, structural and general fabrication, custom-built components, infrastructure-related works and site installations.

We pride ourselves on delivering safe, practical and quality fabrication solutions while working collaboratively with our customers across the City.

About the role

We are seeking experienced Boilermakers (internally referred to as Engineering Fabricators) to join our Fabrication team.

Working under the direction of the Team Leader Engineering and Fabrication, you will undertake a diverse range of boilermaker/welding, fabrication, maintenance and repair work in both workshop and site-based environments.

The role is not limited to Fleet work. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects supporting different Council business areas, including vehicles and plant, infrastructure assets, structural steelwork, equipment modifications, repairs and custom fabrication.

This is a hands-on role suited to a tradesperson who enjoys variety, problem-solving and producing quality work as part of a supportive trade team.

We're looking for people who have:





Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Boilermaker/welding) or equivalent trade qualification

Unrestricted C Class Driver Licence

Sound boilermaker, welding and fabrication skills

Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and measurements

Experience working with a range of materials and fabrication processes

Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship

Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

Good communication skills and ability to work with customers and other trades

Ability to manage priorities and complete work within required timeframes
