Bush Regenerators / Environmental Field Officers

Australian Environmental Landscapes (AEL) is seeking experienced and motivated Bush Regenerators and Environmental Field Officers to join our growing field teams. AEL delivers environmental rehabilitation, natural-area restoration, landscape construction and maintenance projects across South-East Queensland. Our teams work on large-scale revegetation, riparian rehabilitation, weed management, erosion control and landscape establishment projects for councils, government agencies, civil contractors and private clients.

About the role

As an AEL Field Officer, you will work under the direction of a Leading Hand or Supervisor to safely and efficiently complete environmental and landscape works in accordance with project specifications, client requirements and AEL procedures. Depending on the project, your work may include:

- large-scale planting and revegetation;
- establishment and maintenance of native planting areas;
- bush regeneration and natural-area restoration;
- identification and control of environmental and declared weeds;
- herbicide application using backpack, vehicle-mounted or other approved equipment;
- erosion and sediment control works;
- watering, mulching, fertilising and plant maintenance;
- brushcutting, hand weeding and vegetation management;
- riparian, wetland and creek-line rehabilitation;
- landscape construction and maintenance activities;
- operation and care of plant, tools and equipment; and
- assisting with loading, unloading and site establishment.

You will also be expected to participate in site pre-starts, Take 5s, SWMS and other safety processes, maintain tidy and environmentally responsible worksites, and promptly report hazards,



equipment issues or project concerns.

About you

We are looking for people who are reliable, safety-focused and comfortable undertaking physical outdoor work in varying weather and site conditions. Ideally, you will have:
- previous experience in bush regeneration, environmental rehabilitation, landscaping, civil construction or vegetation management;
- knowledge of local native and environmental weed species;
- experience applying herbicides safely and effectively;
- a current Queensland Agricultural Chemicals Distribution Control licence or relevant ACDC accreditation;
- a current driver’s licence;
- experience using brushcutters, chainsaws, pumps and petrol-powered equipment;
- the physical capacity to undertake manual work for extended periods;
- the ability to follow plans, specifications and Supervisor instructions;
- good communication skills and a positive team attitude; and
- a strong commitment to safety, environmental compliance and quality workmanship.

Experience and qualifications are highly regarded; however, AEL may provide formal training and support for suitable candidates who demonstrate the right attitude, reliability and willingness to learn. The Field Officer position description identifies previous environmental, rehabilitation, landscaping or civil experience, together with weed identification, chemical handling and equipment experience, as preferred or advantageous.

Desirable qualifications

The following qualifications would be advantageous:
- ACDC commercial operator licence;




- Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management, Landscape Construction or Horticulture;
- Construction White Card;
- First Aid and CPR;
- chainsaw competency;
- traffic management qualifications;
- MR or HR driver’s licence; and
- plant or machinery tickets.
