Help shape the future of pathology interoperability across Australia.

Public Pathology Australia (PPA) are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to support the development of the National Pathology Test Catalogue (NPTC) - a significant national initiative designed to improve consistency, interoperability and the exchange of pathology information across Australia's health system.

Working with pathology, digital health and technical stakeholders, you will help translate complex business and clinical requirements into clear, structured catalogue specifications and processes.

Key responsibilities

- Undertake structured analysis of existing pathology test catalogues against established terminology reference sets

- Identify variations in pathology test names, definitions, codes, attributes and business rules across jurisdictions and pathology providers

- Elicit and document business, clinical, technical and information requirements for the National Pathology Test Catalogue

- Develop transparent business requirements, functional requirements and user stories

- Work with pathology discipline experts to ensure catalogue content is clinically accurate, nationally applicable and operationally practical

- Populate the National Pathology Test Catalogue database, including setting test names, identifying synonyms, ensuring appropriate terminology and coding associations,



and documenting specimen types

- Facilitate requirements-gathering sessions with clinical, scientific, technical and business stakeholders

- Analyse existing pathology test data from participating pathology providers and jurisdictions

- Assist in development of validation and acceptance criteria for catalogue content and functionality

- Support the manager in planning and delivery of catalogue development

About you

You will be an experienced Business Analyst with strong analytical, stakeholder engagement and documentation skills. You will ideally have experience in healthcare, pathology, digital health or health information systems.

Knowledge of Australian pathology services and standards would be highly regarded.

PPA has 13 members across Australia. Our members provide diagnostic pathology services to patients from laboratories associated with state government funded hospitals. These services are provided by pathologists (medically trained clinicians), supported by teams of scientists, technicians and support staff who ensure samples are quickly and accurately assessed and results shared with clinical teams, so they can make the best possible treatment decisions for patients.
