The Business Manager will work closely with the Founder/Director and across Marketing, Sales, Operations, Logistics and Finance to keep the business connected, organised and moving forward.

About Goldie + Ace

Goldie + Ace is an established Australian brand with a creative, passionate team. The business is expanding globally and doing things differently. This is a chance to play a central role in helping the brand grow while making the business behind it stronger, clearer and better run.

Key responsibilities

Leadership and business rhythm

- Lead the day-to-day running of the business, making sure priorities are clear, decisions are followed through and teams stay focused on agreed outcomes
- Lead, manage and hold accountable around eight direct reports, setting clear expectations and supporting strong performance
- Work closely with the Founder/Director and the Marketing and Sales leaders so all parts of the business work together effectively
- Drive company-wide follow-through on priorities, projects, actions and deadlines, identifying roadblocks and making sure issues are resolved rather than left sitting

Operations and warehouse

- Lead the operational management of the warehouse, including team coordination, workflow, processes, priorities and continuous improvement
- Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks between Warehouse, Sales, Marketing, Creative and Customer Care

- Oversee day-to-day business administration, including office operations, systems, suppliers, insurance, IT providers and subscriptions

People and HR

- Take responsibility for the people and HR function, including recruitment coordination, onboarding, performance management, policies, leave and employee matters
- Work with the external HR provider when specialist support is required

Finance and commercial

- Maintain strong financial visibility across the areas managed, including monthly sales and expenditure budgets, reporting, cash requirements and cost control
- Work with department leaders to monitor actual performance against budget and flag issues, overspend or opportunities early
- Ensure financial and administrative processes, controls and reporting are current, accurate and well managed
- Manage relationships with the external bookkeeper, accountant, HR provider and other professional service providers, making sure work is completed accurately and on time
- Bring commercial thinking to everyday decisions and keep looking for simpler, more efficient ways for the business to operate

Put simply, this person will keep things moving, turning issues into decisions, decisions into actions and actions into results.

About you

- You're an experienced Business Manager, Operations Manager, General Manager or senior operator who understands how to keep a growing owner-led business running well
- You're commercially minded and comfortable working with budgets, reporting, numbers and operational performance, without needing to be an accountant
- You have strong people leadership skills and are comfortable setting expectations, giving feedback and having difficult conversations when needed
- You're highly organised and structured, but practical enough to work in a fast-moving small business where not everything comes neatly packaged
- You naturally take ownership. You don't wait for someone else to identify the problem, make every decision or chase the follow-up

- You can see how different areas of a business affect one another and can bring people together to solve cross-functional issues
- You're comfortable managing external professional providers and making sure they deliver what the business needs
- You communicate clearly in writing and in person, with everyone from warehouse staff to senior leaders and external advisers
- You're calm under pressure, solutions focused and good at turning complexity into clear next steps
- You lead from the front and are as comfortable discussing budgets in the morning as you are sorting out an operational issue in the warehouse that afternoon
- Experience in a consumer brand, retail, wholesale, ecommerce, fashion or product-based business would be advantageous
- Most importantly, you'll be excited by the chance to play a central role in the next stage of an established Australian brand's growth

What's on offer

- A competitive salary [add package details if you'd like to include them]
- The option to work 4 days per week or full-time
- A great office close to the city and public transport
- A generous staff discount, plus early access to new collections and sample sales
