? About the Role:

As a Mental Health Clinician within Greater Newcastle CAMHS, you’ll provide specialist assessment, therapeutic intervention and care coordination for children and young people experiencing complex mental health concerns. Working closely with families, carers and broader support networks, you’ll help shape care that is responsive, collaborative and centred around the needs of each young person.

No two days are the same. Your clinical practice will span comprehensive mental health assessment, formulation and treatment planning, therapeutic interventions and care coordination, alongside clinical documentation and collaboration with health services, schools and community providers.

You’ll be part of a highly team-oriented multidisciplinary team alongside Psychiatry, Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy and Dietetics, bringing your own discipline-specific expertise to clinical assessment, treatment planning and shared decision-making.

You’ll be well supported by the Greater Newcastle CAMHS Team Leader and an experienced multidisciplinary team, with access to discipline-specific expertise across Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Dietetics and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. This strong clinical network provides a collaborative environment for consultation, shared decision-making and ongoing professional support.

Greater Newcastle CAMHS offers a flexible, contemporary model of care, incorporating individual, dyadic and family-based approaches. A structured orientation will support you to become familiar with CAMHS processes, models of care and clinical practice, while regular clinical supervision, discipline-specific support and access to ongoing education and professional development will help you continue to build your clinical capability.

? Where You’ll Be Working:

Join the Greater Newcastle Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) as part of an experienced and supportive multidisciplinary team dedicated to improving mental health outcomes for children, young people and their families.

This position will be primarily based at our Raymond Terrace site, with the flexibility to work across both Raymond Terrace and Newcastle CAMHS sites in response to service needs. Occasional travel to other Greater Newcastle CAMHS locations may also be required during working hours, offering variety and the opportunity to connect with colleagues across the broader service.

CAMHS provides specialist mental health assessment and treatment for children and young people aged 0–17 years experiencing moderate to severe and complex mental health concerns. Working in partnership with families and carers, the service delivers developmentally appropriate, trauma-informed and family-focused care tailored to the needs of each young person.

Essential Requirements:

- Must hold a qualification in one of the following: Occupational Therapy, Clin Psychology/clin psych in training, Nursing, Social Work, Counsellor (Degree in Bachelor of Health Science Mental health, Djirruwang Program), Nutrition and Dietetics which provides eligibility or membership of the relevant professional association general registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency or relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years' experience working in the clinical area of their specified post-graduate qualification, or such other qualifications or equivalent experience deemed appropriate by the service.
- Eligibility to drive in NSW and interstate and the willingness to travel in the course of employment.

Desirable:

- Experience in child and adolescent mental health is highly valued; however, we also recognise that specialist knowledge continues to develop through experience, supervision and education. A willingness to learn, reflect on practice and actively engage in professional development is important to our team.
