Category Specialist - Technology & Indirects

Robert Half is partnering with a major Western Australian organisation to recruit a permanent Category Specialist - Technology & Indirects.

This is an opportunity for an experienced procurement and contracts skilled with strong technology category experience to take ownership of end-to-end sourcing, contracting and supplier management across technology and indirect spend.

The role will work closely with internal stakeholders and strategic suppliers to develop category and sourcing strategies, negotiate fit-for-purpose commercial agreements and drive strong procurement outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

- Lead end-to-end sourcing, evaluation, negotiation and contract award activities.
- Develop fit-for-purpose contracts for technology and indirect scopes of work.
- Manage contracts post-award, including claims, variations, change requests, milestone payments and contract securities.
- Develop and deliver sourcing and category plans aligned with business requirements.
- Manage supplier relationships across core and strategic technology markets.
- Identify category improvement opportunities through market analysis, category planning and stakeholder engagement.
- Analyse commercial proposals and undertake commercial due diligence.
- Support procurement outcomes relating to ESG, supply security and social licence requirements.
- Ensure procurement policies, procedures and governance requirements are followed.
- Complete relevant WA Government procurement reporting requirements.
- Partner with stakeholders across the organisation to improve procurement and supplier outcomes.

About You You will have a strong background in procurement, category management and commercial contracting, ideally with direct experience across technology and indirect categories.





You will bring

- A suitable degree qualification in business, commerce, quantity surveying, legal or a related discipline.
- Minimum five years' experience in a similar procurement, category or contracts role.
- Strong experience negotiating, documenting, managing and closing out commercial contracts.
- Experience with ERP systems and Procure-to-Pay (P2P) processes.
- Strong stakeholder and supplier relationship management experience.
- Experience analysing and conducting due diligence on commercial proposals.
- Knowledge of category management principles, tools and techniques.
- Proven commercial negotiation skills.
- Strong contract administration experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to travel within Western Australia as required.

Experience developing and executing technology category strategies and knowledge of technology contracting models will be highly regarded. Applicants must reside in Perth, Bunbury, Albany or Esperance and hold Australian citizenship or permanent residency. A current Western Australian driver's licence is also required.
