Description JOB SUMMARY The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is a clinical professional who supports physicians and clinical staff in delivering safe, efficient patient care in a fast-paced clinic environment. This role performs administrative and clinical duties within CMA scope of practice while supporting patient throughput, accurate documentation, regulatory compliance, and quality clinical outcomes. This position is located in Rockingham, NC.

Responsibilities Clinical Patient Care

- Assist patients by providing information, support, and qualified customer service
- Verify patient information, obtain medical histories, confirm visit purpose, allergies, medications, and vital signs
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, including explaining treatments and obtaining proper consents
- Assist physicians with in-office procedures, injections, wound care, suture/staple removal, and post-operative follow-up
- Administer medications as directed by the provider and within CMA scope of practice

Clinical Workflow & Documentation

- Document patient care, treatments, injections, and education accurately in the EMR (TouchWorks)
- Ensure documentation supports appropriate coding and charge capture per clinic policy
- Manage administrative tasks including patient communications, reports, and daily clinical workflows
- Respond to prescription refill requests per provider direction
- Recognize and respond to medical emergencies according to clinic policy

Safety, Compliance & Environment

- Maintain sterile technique, follow universal precautions,



and comply with OSHA and safety regulations
- Clean and maintain exam rooms, equipment, and supplies; properly dispose of biohazard materials
- Ensure patient and staff safety, including safe patient transport and assistance with ambulation

Requirements QUALIFICATIONS

- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program
- Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential in good standing
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Knowledge of infection control, sterile technique, and clinic-based health and safety precautions
- Ability to use and apply medical terminology accurately
- Demonstrated understanding of clinical workflows and patient care protocols
- Strong communication skills with patients and external parties in a courteous and professional manner
