About the role The Chef will be primarily responsible for their cooking station and coordinating the work of the other kitchen members to ensure they deliver food at consistent, reliable, and excellent standards. Chefs will engage in delegation, training, creating menu items, maintaining appropriate stock volumes, problem solving and collaboration with other teams.

Key responsibilities

- Continuously ensure and review the delivery of excellent standards in the kitchen
- Prepare and cook ingredients to deliver top-quality Italian dishes (Pizza & Pasta), including hand stretching pizza dough and operating a wood gas or electric oven
- Provide assistance in training processes where appropriate
- Provide appropriate input into the creation of recipes and menu concepts in collaboration with the kitchen team
- Assist in placing orders for food stock and sundries where directed
- Effectively assist in opening and closing the kitchen where rostered
- Proficiently assist with sessions and events, including set menus, canape functions, and event days




- Ensure the kitchen complies with WHS requirements and all other relevant regulations
- Follow and comply with the Food Standards Australia and Recent Zealand Code
- Maintain a high and consistent standard of product and personal presentation

About you

- Cert 3 or 4 in commercial cookery
- Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role
- Strong communications skills
- Ability to work unsupervised
- Strong knowledge of cooking procedures and ingredients
