JOB TITLE: Chef

JOB TYPE: Full time

LOCATION: Goldfields Hotel Motel, Tennant Creek NT

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

· Prepare and cook hot meals and other menu items for motel guests, pub patrons and other customers.

· Plan and review practical pub-style menus and daily specials in consultation with management, taking account of customer demand, ingredient availability, food cost and kitchen capacity.

· Prepare ingredients and cook dishes using appropriate commercial cooking techniques and equipment.

· Monitor food quality, portioning, temperature and presentation throughout preparation and service.

· Estimate ingredient requirements and assist with ordering, receiving, storage, stock rotation and waste reduction.

· Maintain food-safety, hygiene and sanitation standards throughout the commercial kitchen and food-storage areas.

· Coordinate kitchen workflow during meal periods and provide direction and training to cooks and kitchenhands.

· Coordinate with bar and front-of-house staff so meal orders are prepared accurately and served promptly.





· Monitor kitchen equipment and report maintenance, safety and operational issues to management.

· Accommodate reasonable dietary requirements and communicate menu availability or changes to service staff.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Qualifications: Certificate IV in Kitchen Management (SIT40521) or equivalent, or Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (SIT30821) with at least two years of relevant commercial cooking experience. Food-safety handler training (SITXFSA005/SITXFSA006) is required; a Food Safety Supervisor certificate is desirable.

Experience: Relevant experience in a commercial kitchen, preferably in a pub, hotel, motel, club or similar hospitality setting.

Pay: $65,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
