The Indian Royal Flavours is an Indian restaurant operated by JKAUR GLOBAL GROUP PTY LTD. We are committed to providing customers with authentic, high-quality Indian cuisine prepared using fresh ingredients, traditional flavours and professional cooking techniques.

We are seeking an experienced, motivated and passionate Chef to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Preparing, cooking and presenting a wide range of dishes in accordance with restaurant standards.

Preparing authentic Indian dishes, including curries, tandoori dishes, breads, rice dishes, entrees, sauces and accompaniments.

Planning menus in consultation with management, taking into account customer preferences, seasonal availability and food costs.

Monitoring the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation.

Ensuring consistency in food quality, taste, portion size and presentation.

Checking the freshness and quality of ingredients and other food products.

Managing food preparation and coordinating orders during busy service periods.

Estimating food and ingredient requirements and assisting with purchasing and stock control.

Monitoring inventory levels and minimising food wastage.

Maintaining appropriate food storage, temperature control and stock rotation procedures.

Preparing ingredients and applying appropriate cooking techniques.

Developing new menu items and improving existing dishes where required.

Maintaining a clean, safe, organised and hygienic kitchen environment.

Ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.

Training, guiding and supervising junior kitchen staff where required.





Coordinating with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth and efficient restaurant operations.

Experience and Qualifications

Applicants should have

1–3 years of relevant experience working as a Chef or in a similar commercial kitchen position.

Previous experience working in a busy restaurant or commercial kitchen environment.

Experience preparing and cooking Indian cuisine is highly desirable.

Relevant qualifications in Commercial Cookery, Hospitality or a related field, or equivalent practical industry experience.

Sound knowledge of commercial kitchen procedures and food preparation methods.

Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and safe food-handling requirements.

Experience with menu preparation, portion control, stock management and food-cost control.

Experience managing multiple orders and priorities during busy service periods.

Skills and Abilities

The successful applicant should demonstrate:

Strong cooking and food preparation skills.

Positive knowledge of Indian spices, ingredients, marinades, sauces and traditional cooking techniques.

Ability to produce consistently high-quality meals.

Strong attention to detail in food preparation and presentation.

Ability to maintain portion, taste and presentation standards.

Good knife skills and knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment.

Ability to follow recipes, menu specifications and restaurant procedures.





Ability to estimate ingredient quantities and manage stock efficiently.

Strong organisational and time-management skills.

Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to prioritise multiple orders during busy service periods.

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with other team members.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to supervise and provide guidance to junior kitchen staff.

Strong understanding of kitchen hygiene, cleanliness and food safety requirements.

Ability to minimise food wastage while maintaining quality standards.

Reliability, punctuality and a professional work ethic.

A positive attitude and willingness to contribute to the ongoing improvement of the restaurant.

Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required by the restaurant's trading hours.
