ABOUT THE ROLE

- Prepare and cook breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes.

- Prepare seasonal menu items using fresh ingredients.

- Follow established recipes and maintain consistent food quality.

- Complete daily mise en place before service.

- Manage food preparation efficiently during busy periods.

- Maintain high standards of presentation and portion control.

- Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth service.

- Contribute to the preparation of new and seasonal menu items.

- Maintain food quality and consistency throughout service.

KEY DUTIES

- Prepare ingredients for daily café service.

- Prepare vegetables, meats, eggs, sauces, dressings and other ingredients.

- Cook breakfast and brunch dishes to order.

- Prepare creative and contemporary café meals.

- Prepare vegetarian and plant-based dishes where required.

- Prepare mushroom-based dishes, fritters, salads, smashed avocado dishes and other seasonal menu items.

- Prepare sandwiches and other café food items.

- Prepare sauces, dressings, garnishes and accompaniments.

- Monitor cooking times and temperatures.

- Check food quality before dishes leave the kitchen.

- Maintain consistent portion sizes.

- Maintain presentation standards across the menu.

- Coordinate multiple orders during busy service periods.

- Communicate with other kitchen staff during service.

- Assist with menu preparation and seasonal menu changes.





- Assist with testing and introducing new dishes.

- Monitor ingredient quality and freshness.

- Assist with stock control and ordering.

- Receive and check food deliveries.

- Store ingredients according to food safety requirements.

- Rotate stock and monitor use-by dates.

- Minimise food wastage.

- Assist with food cost control.

- Maintain clean food preparation areas.

- Clean and maintain kitchen equipment.

- Follow food safety procedures.

- Follow workplace health and safety requirements.

- Maintain a safe and hygienic commercial kitchen.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

- Previous experience working as a Chef in a commercial kitchen.

- Experience in a café, brunch or restaurant environment.

- Experience preparing breakfast and brunch dishes.

- Experience working with seasonal menus.

- Robust food preparation and cooking skills.

- Ability to manage multiple orders during busy service.

- Ability to work efficiently under pressure.

- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene requirements.

- Knowledge of stock rotation and food storage.

- Understanding of portion control and food cost management.

- Robust attention to food presentation.

- Good organisational and time-management skills.

- Ability to work independently.

- Ability to work effectively as part of a kitchen team.

- Good communication skills.

- Reliable and professional approach to work.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Relevant commercial cookery qualification is desirable.





- Food Safety Supervisor certification is desirable.

- Relevant commercial kitchen experience is required.

- Applicants must demonstrate the skills and experience necessary to perform the duties of the position.

WHAT WE OFFER

- Salary of $80,000 to $85,000 plus superannuation, depending on experience.
