A significant part of our Queensland operation is the inspection, installation and maintenance of smoke alarms. The work we coordinate helps protect families, tenants and property owners by ensuring homes have properly maintained and compliant smoke alarms.

Due to continued growth, we are expanding our finance team and are looking for an experienced Collections Officer to join us at our Eagle Farm office.

Reporting to the CFO, you’ll work alongside our Accounts Officers as part of a small, hands-on Finance team.

About the role

This is a great opportunity for an experienced collections professional who knows how to have challenging conversations while maintaining strong customer relationships. You’ll manage a large portfolio of clients and transactions, working with customers to resolve overdue accounts and negotiate appropriate payment arrangements.

We’re looking for someone who can use their judgement and communication skills to achieve the right outcome for both MYLO and our customers.

Your responsibilities will include

- Conducting high-volume inbound and outbound collection calls
- Managing overdue accounts and credit control activities
- Working closely with customers to understand their circumstances
- Identifying customers experiencing financial hardship
- Negotiating payment arrangements and appropriate collection solutions
- Handling challenging conversations professionally and empathetically
- Providing excellent customer service via phone and email
- Managing a large number of clients and transactions
- Completing detailed account reconciliations
- Preparing collections and accounts receivable reports
- Maintaining accurate records and following internal policies and procedures




- Ensuring collection activities comply with relevant regulatory requirements and quality standards
- Working closely with the Finance team to resolve account issues and improve processes

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for someone with proven collections experience who is confident dealing with customers and comfortable managing difficult conversations.

You’ll ideally have

- 3+ years’ experience in collections, credit control or accounts receivable
- Experience managing overdue accounts and payment negotiations
- Robust judgement and the ability to make sound decisions
- Excellent relationship-building and customer service skills
- Clear, empathetic and confident communication skills
- The ability to handle difficult conversations professionally
- Experience working with Xero
- Good Microsoft 365 and Excel skills, including confidence with reporting
- Strong attention to detail and reconciliation skills
- An understanding of the principles, policies and regulatory requirements governing collection activity
- The ability to manage competing priorities and a high volume of transactions
- Flexibility and adaptability, with a willingness to improve processes and the way things are done
