Communications Technician

Communications Technician role based in Kalgoorlie with Mining company.

This is an outstanding prospect for a skilled Communications Technician, Radio Technician or Telecommunications Technician to work with critical communications infrastructure supporting one of Australia's premier open-pit mining operations. Offering a family-friendly residential 8/6 roster, you'll be home every night while enjoying a rewarding career in the Goldfields.

The Opportunity

You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and optimisation of communications systems that support site operations, dispatch and reporting functions.

Working within a safety-focused environment, you'll contribute to the reliability and performance of essential operational technology while collaborating with a highly skilled technical team.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform installation, preventative maintenance and breakdown support across communications systems and infrastructure.
- Maintain and troubleshoot two-way radio, LTE and microwave communication networks.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment configuration and physical condition to support maintenance programs.
- Support dispatch and fleet management systems to ensure operational continuity.
- Manage inventory levels of critical spare parts, tools and equipment.
- Complete system documentation and maintenance records accurately.
- Maintain high housekeeping standards across work areas and vehicles.
- Mentor and support apprentices and junior Communications Technicians as required.




- Promote a strong safety culture and continuous improvement mindset across the team.

About You To be successful in this role, you will possess strong technical troubleshooting capabilities and enjoy working in a dynamic mining environment.

You will demonstrate

- Experience maintaining communications, radio or telecommunications systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities.
- High levels of computer literacy and technical aptitude.
- Previous exposure to open-pit mining environments will be highly regarded.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

- Certificate III in Radio Communications, Electronic Servicing or a related technical discipline.
- Open Cabler Registration.
- Current WA "C" Class Manual Driver's Licence.
- RIIWHS204E Work Safely at Heights.
- Elevated Work Platform (EWP) High Risk Work Licence.
- Experience with Motorola two-way radio systems.
- Knowledge of LTE networks and microwave communications.
- Exposure to Fleet Management Systems (FMS), particularly Wenco, will be highly regarded.
- Experience with hardware and software configuration of communications technologies.
