$97,076.11 – $108.637.38 per annum plus superannuation, and a 9-day fortnight. Appointed salary in this range will be determined based on skills, qualifications and experience.

About the role

This position will involve collaborating with, and strengthening relationships between, the community, local organisations, and Council to achieve positive outcomes for Hornsby Shire residents.

The role assists with the coordination of community activities, initiatives, and events, and advocates on behalf of our Shire's residents.

The position is responsible for:

- Researching and evaluating data and trends to identify needs and service gaps within the Hornsby Shire community sector, where Council can provide support or work in partnership with external organisations, community groups, service providers, and government agencies.
- Providing information and referrals to support the delivery of relevant sections of Council's strategic plans, including the Disability Inclusion Action Plan, Ageing Strategy, and Social Plan.
- Designing, promoting, delivering, administering, and managing projects, programs, and events across a broad range of community development areas.
- Building and maintaining relationships with community groups, individual residents, welfare agencies, schools, committees, faith-based organisations, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure strong connections between these groups, Council, and the broader community.





Position requirements Tertiary qualification in community development or social science

Understanding of and a commitment to community development philosophy/practices.

Experience working with a diverse range of communities including older people, young people, Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Communities, people with CALD backgrounds, people with a disability and people who identify as part of the LGBTQI+ community An up-to-date knowledge of working with a board range of people, agencies and organisations that is inclusive of all age groups, community organizations and services, professional groups and networks.

About you The position requires an excellent communicator with experience of working in the community development sector bringing together a shared vision through working with multiple and varied stakeholders, across multicultural communities.

You will be a proactive, focused strategic thinker, with well-developed communication and consultation skills. You will have a high calibre professional ethics and personal standards as the role requires, significant interaction with a variety of people from all levels of the community and often works in areas that require sensitivity and confidentiality.
