About the Role

Reporting to the Supervisor Trees and Conservation, you’ll be part of a team delivering practical conservation maintenance throughout the City’s natural areas.

It’s a role where you’ll work with your hands, work as a team and see the results of what you do—helping protect local biodiversity and keep our bushland, wetlands and coastal reserves secure, accessible and well maintained for the community and future generations.

What You’ll Be Doing

- Undertake conservation maintenance tasks, including weed control, brushcutting, rubbish removal, fencing repairs, pruning, revegetation and other tasks as required.
- Safely operate and maintain vehicles, plant, tools and equipment, and report any damage, defects or loss.
- Follow daily work instructions from the Supervisor or Leading Hand and contribute safely and effectively as a member of the Conservation Maintenance team.
- Complete required documentation, including timesheets, work orders and operational records.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with City staff, contractors and members of the public.
- Comply with City procedures, safe work practices, Work Health and Safety requirements, environmental obligations and applicable legislation.
- Undertake required training and competency assessments, and maintain the skills and competencies needed to perform the role safely and effectively.

About You You are reliable, safety-focused and enjoy working outdoors. You enjoy being part of a team,



take pride in doing a job well and have a genuine interest in conservation and caring for our natural areas. You’re adaptable, willing to learn and comfortable taking on different tasks and changing priorities to help the team get the job done.

To be successful in this role you’ll have:

- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of land management principles and practices within natural environments.
- Certificate II in Conservation and Ecosystem Management, or demonstrated equivalent qualifications and/or relevant experience.
- Physical capacity to undertake strenuous manual labour in outdoor environments.
- Sound literacy, numeracy and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to use relevant digital systems and technology.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions.
- Safety Awareness Certificate (White Card), or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
- Practical knowledge of Work Health and Safety requirements.
- Current C or C-A Class driver’s licence.
- Positive and proactive approach to change, with willingness to work across City service units as operational requirements change.
