We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Cremator Operator to join our Operations team. This important role contributes to the respectful care of the deceased and the meaningful services we provide to families, funeral directors and the community.

About the Role

Reporting to the Leading Hand Cremation Services, the Cremator Operator is responsible for the safe, dignified, and efficient delivery of cremation, ashes processing, and memorial placement services.

This hands-on role requires a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and respect, ensuring every person entrusted to our care is treated with dignity throughout the cremation and memorialisation process.

Your specific tasks will include:

- Operate the cremators and ashes-processing equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate identification procedures, records, and documentation.
- Process and prepare ashes for memorialisation and return to families.
- Prepare memorial sites and complete ashes placements.
- Install plaques and memorial products to a high standard.
- Conduct quality assurance checks to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Support the presentation, maintenance, and upkeep of memorial areas.
- Assist families and funeral directors with professionalism, care, and discretion.
- Ensure facilities, equipment, and work areas remain secure, compliant, and operationally ready.

What you’ll need to be successful:

- You are a reliable and respectful team member who understands the importance of accuracy, confidentiality and comfortable working in a sensitive workplace.
- Mechanical aptitude and confidence working with equipment and tools.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to following procedures.
- Sound computer literacy and data entry skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent organisational and record-keeping skills.
- A focus on workplace safety and operational compliance.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a customer-focused approach.
- Class C Drivers License
- A compassionate, respectful, and discreet manner.
- Previous experience working in a crematorium environment will be viewed favourably.

This opportunity is a permanent full-time position working Monday to Friday across core business hours, some additional hours (overtime) may be offered depending on operational needs.
