About Tauondi
Tauondi Aboriginal College is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation committed to empowering strong people and supporting strong communities through the strength of culture and education. We are seeking a passionate and organised Cultural Project Officer to join our Cultural Services team and support the development, coordination and delivery of culturally grounded projects, programs, resources and engagement activities.
This is an opportunity to contribute to meaningful cultural initiatives while working alongside Aboriginal communities, Elders, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, government, education providers and industry.
About the Role
The Cultural Project Officer will support the planning, development and implementation of projects and initiatives delivered through Tauondi’s Cultural Services. Working closely with the Cultural Services Coordinator and Cultural Training and Development Officers, you will contribute to programs, resources and activities that strengthen Aboriginal cultural awareness, capability and safety.
The role combines project coordination, research, resource development, stakeholder and community engagement, monitoring and reporting, as well as opportunities to co-deliver cultural training, workshops and engagement activities.
You will contribute to
- Planning and coordinating Cultural Services projects and initiatives
- Developing culturally appropriate training and learning resources
- Supporting cultural training, workshops and engagement activities
- Building respectful relationships with communities, Elders and stakeholders
- Monitoring project progress, outcomes and deliverables
- Supporting the continued development and growth of Tauondi’s Cultural Services
Key Responsibilities
- Support the planning, development and implementation of Cultural Services projects, programs and initiatives
- Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, schedules and supporting documentation
- Assist with coordinating workshops, events and other Cultural Services activities
- Research and develop culturally appropriate learning materials, presentations, activities and resources
- Co-deliver cultural training, workshops, programs and engagement activities
- Build and maintain respectful relationships with Aboriginal communities, Elders, ACCOs, government agencies, education providers and industry
- Support consultation and engagement activities to identify community priorities and opportunities for collaboration
- Maintain project records and assist with monitoring, evaluation and reporting
- Prepare project updates, reports, briefing materials and other documentation
- Contribute to continuous improvement and the development of recent Cultural Services initiatives

About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Strong understanding of Aboriginal cultures, histories, contemporary issues, community protocols and culturally safe practice
- Experience working respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, organisations, Elders and stakeholders
- Experience supporting cultural, community, education or engagement projects
- Strong communication, engagement and facilitation skills
- Ability to develop culturally appropriate resources, presentations and project documentation
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Ability to build positive and respectful relationships with community and external stakeholders
- Confidence contributing to presentations, workshops and group facilitation
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Commitment to culturally safe, respectful and inclusive practice
The Position Description also places particular emphasis on attention to detail, problem-solving, communication, relationship building and the ability to respond to changing community and project needs.
Essential Requirements
- Current Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
- RRHAN-EC certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Current Driver’s Licence
Highly Regarded
- TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or experience in adult education, facilitation or community education
- Relevant qualification in community services, project management, education, Aboriginal studies, social science, cultural studies or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Experience developing or co-delivering cultural training, workshops, presentations or community programs
- Experience working with government, community organisations, education providers or industry stakeholders
Traineeship Opportunity
Tauondi may also consider appointing a suitable candidate through a traineeship pathway, incorporating a Certificate IV in Project Management. This may provide an opportunity for a person with strong cultural knowledge, community connections and potential to develop their project management skills while working within Tauondi’s Cultural Services team.
