Summary/Objective

The Critical Operations Supervisor - Mechanical provides day-to-day operational leadership and technical governance to ensure the safe, compliant and reliable performance of all mechanical and cooling infrastructure across the site. This Monday-Friday role is accountable for coordinating mechanical operations, overseeing major works and maintaining regulatory and contractual compliance. The position participates in a rotating on-call roster to provide after-hours escalation, ensuring timely response to mechanical, thermal or cooling-related incidents. The Supervisor leads the Mechanical workstream across all shift teams, providing expert escalation on complex issues and coordinating critical activities such as planned shutdowns, cooling plant maintenance, thermal risk mitigation, troubleshooting and return-to-service (RTS) validation.

This role is also responsible for ensuring mechanical training, competency and authorisation requirements are met. The Supervisor partners closely with site stakeholders to uplift procedures, enhance plant performance, strengthen operational readiness and continuously improve the mechanical reliability of the facility.

Key Responsibilities





- Provide technical leadership across the site mechanical and cooling workstream.
- Maintain oversight of chilled water, CRAC/CRAH, cooling towers, pumps and controls.
- Act as the primary mechanical escalation point for shift teams.
- Coordinate shutdowns, cooling maintenance, troubleshooting and corrective works.
- Provide technical direction during maintenance, adjustments and testing.
- Review risk assessments, method statements, permits, isolations and RTS controls.
- Verify thermal stability, redundancy and control sequences after work or changes.
- Act as incident manager for mechanical events when required.
- Coordinate vendors and verify correct system configuration after work.
- Identify recurring thermal issues, capacity constraints and design limitations.
- Improve mechanical SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, CMMS data and handover standards.
- Coach technical teams and strengthen mechanical capability and authorisation.

You’ll bring

- A mechanical trade qualification or relevant mechanical engineering qualification.




- Extensive Data Centre or Mission Critical experience.
- Strong knowledge of CRAC/CRAH, chilled water systems, pumps and cooling towers.
- Experience operating and stabilising critical cooling and mechanical plant.
- Strong understanding of thermal behaviour, airflow and system redundancy.
- Experience reviewing MOPs, SOPs, EOPs, risk assessments and commissioning documentation.
- Ability to interpret mechanical schematics, chilled water diagrams and control logic.
- Proficiency with BMS/EPMS, CMMS and operational data platforms.
- Strong incident leadership, coaching and technical communication skills.
- Knowledge of permit-to-work, isolations/LOTO and operational risk frameworks.
- Ability to work Monday-Friday with rotating on-call requirements.
- Legal entitlement to work in Australia and ability to meet site security requirements.
