WHY THIS ROLE, WHY NOW?

We're stepping into our next chapter - growing sustainably while protecting the brand, values and people that got us here. We've made a clear commitment to AI and data, and that only works if the data underneath is clean, joined up and well labelled.

With our current Business Systems Manager moving on in October, we need a Microsoft Fabric expert to capture how our data works, clear the backlog and set us up for the future.

WHAT WILL MY DAY LOOK LIKE?

Reporting to our outgoing Business Systems & Data Manager, you'll work closely in this hands-on contract: a focused fast-track phase to get our data foundations right, then support as needed. Everything you build lives in Carman's own systems, so the knowledge stays in the business.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Capture the knowledge. In your first month, run recorded handover sessions and document every data feed, model, schedule and refresh step - and how to fix each one when it breaks.
- Map the manual bits. Document our trade promotion and planning data flows, plus any manual work people do today.
- Lock down access. Move all admin access and service accounts to company-owned accounts, with IT Support.
- Clear the backlog. Agree the data backlog and priorities, then deliver to a written scope and milestones.
- Join up our data. Set up the data structures in Fabric so finance, commercial and supply data connect.
- Define the numbers. Draft the definitions and rules for each key metric, ready for our business owners to sign off.
- Build reports we trust. Deliver a small set of locked reports for board, finance and month-end.
- Keep it humming. Keep the data store, feeds and our AI connection running,



and support the technical side of new systems and any finance system change.
- Hand over well. Leave notes so clear that our new Head can run the data store without needing you on hand.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

- 3+ years of hands-on Microsoft Fabric experience - lakehouse and warehouse design, pipelines and Power BI semantic models.
- Robust SQL, and experience bringing in data from ERP systems such as SAP Business One.
- A documenter - you write clear, simple notes that someone else can pick up and follow.
- A translator - you explain data problems in plain English to business leaders.
- Experience with FMCG or retail data, such as scan data and trade promotions (a bonus).
- A generous collaborator - happy to share what you know so it stays in the business.
