About the role

We are looking for an energetic and motivated Coxswain Grade 1 / Deckhand to join our Hamilton Island team. This hands-on role supports the safe, professional delivery of our marine tourism experiences and combines vessel operations, deck duties and outstanding guest service.

Key responsibilities

- Operate vessels within the limits of your qualifications and company procedures
- Assist with passenger safety briefings, boarding and disembarkation
- Carry out berthing, line handling and general deck duties
- Support vessel cleaning, presentation and basic maintenance
- Deliver friendly, skilled service and confidently engage with guests
- Follow safety procedures and help maintain operational and emergency readiness
- Work collaboratively with the wider marine operations team

About you You will have at least two years’ commercial marine experience and be confident working across vessel and deck operations. You will be safety-focused, well presented, reliable and proactive, with strong communication skills and a genuine commitment to teamwork, customer service and exceptional guest experiences.

Essential requirements





- Current Coxswain Grade 1 Near Coastal certificate of competency
- Minimum two years’ commercial maritime experience
- Current First Aid, RSA, CPR and O2 qualifications
- Strong safety awareness and confidence carrying out vessel and deck duties
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a close-knit crew
- Confidence interacting with guests and speaking to groups
- Availability for rostered work, including weekends and public holidays

Desirable experience

- Commercial tourism or passenger vessel experience
- Local area knowledge
- Practical mechanical or maintenance skills
