About the role The Deputy Head of Museum supports the Head of Museum in the day-to-day operation and development of the Museum. The role provides operational oversight across the Museum, coordinates managers and staff, and helps ensure priorities, standards and initiatives are effectively implemented.

The Deputy Head of Museum also supports staffing, rostering, administration, WHS, facilities and operational planning and acts for the Head of Museum when required.

Key responsibilities

- Support the Head of Museum with the day-to-day operation and development of the Museum.
- Coordinate and support managers across the Museum.
- Monitor operational priorities, standards, staffing and performance.
- Coordinate rostering, payroll and employment administration.
- Identify and resolve operational issues and emerging risks.
- Implement agreed decisions, projects and initiatives.
- Support staff planning, communication, performance and development.
- Oversee general operational matters including facilities, security, WHS and assets.
- Provide operational advice, reports and updates to the Head of Museum.
- Act for the Head of Museum when required and within delegated authority.
- Build positive working relationships across the Museum and with external stakeholders.

Experience in tourism, hospitality, visitor services, museums or a similar operational environment will be highly regarded. You do not need to meet every criterion to apply. We are interested in people with the skills, experience and attitude to succeed in the role.
