Primary objective The Deputy Superintendent will manage Operational Security and Intelligence through a Territory wide lens. Will provide support, oversight and governance to operational practice with a view to creating consistencies, structure and improvements across the Territory.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. The Deputy Superintendent will assist the General Manager in leading the Team of Territory Wide Operations in developing, planning and
delivering on key projects and systems that will support operational growth in relation to security and Intelligence practices and procedures, Territory Wide consistency and operational improvements.
1. Support the Deputy Superintendent Security across all sites in relation to operational security, management of intelligence and the introduction
of Territory Wide consistency.

Coordinate and undertake reviews in relation to Security, Intelligence, Incidents and all areas of Operations as required by the General Manager
and Executive leadership Team.
1. Develop and manage internal and external stakeholder relationships, including colleagues across Correctional Services Australia wide to
understand emerging security and intelligence, learnings, issues and trends to ensure a Territory wide consideration
1. Coordinate and undertake the development of standard operating procedures and relevant policy that support Territory wide alignment of
key processes and procedures.
1. Develop an understanding of Innovation and Technology focused on a Correctional Environment.
2. Be part of a team focused on change management and operational improvement by developing and delivering system wide process to enhance
knowledge, governance, and a robust compliance model to assist in the reduction of risk.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Diploma of Correctional Administration or other relevant qualification that is assessed as being equivalent, or alternatively a qualification
assessed as being acceptable to permit the applicant to be appointed for a fixed term subject to obtaining the Advanced Diploma or other relevant qualification.
1. Significant experience managing a diverse range of persons within a custodial workplace.
2. Extensive and demonstrated experience in the management of change processes and the development, implementation and monitoring of
policies and procedures relevant to a custodial environment.
1. Demonstrated experience leading and undertaking projects in a custodial environment.
2. Proven experience in the effective leadership and management of people and financial resources, and a demonstrated commitment to Equal
Employment Opportunity, Anti-Discrimination and Work Health and Safety.
1. Demonstrated sound knowledge of the principles that apply to sentence management, programs and services for persons within custody.
2. Extensive working knowledge of the criminal justice system, management processes and a thorough understanding of contemporary issues in
relation to effective management within a custodial environment.
1. A high level of interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to build and sustain productive working relationships across service
streams, with internal and external stakeholders.
1. The successful applicant will be required to have completed 12 months continuous service as a Chief Correctional Officer in the Northern
Territory, or equivalent/higher classification in another Australian Correctional Environment. Further information The position will require the successful applicant to work for short periods in regional towns and communities. The applicant must have an NT
Driver License and be able to travel by various means including light aircraft.
