The Northern Territory Department of Corrections is seeking an experienced and dynamic leader to join our team as a Deputy Superintendent. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in the management of a correctional centre in the Northern Territory, contributing to safer communities and positive outcomes for people in custody. Positions are available across the Greater Darwin Region, Alice Springs, and Katherine.

About the Role

As Deputy Superintendent, you will support the General Manager in leading complex custodial operations to ensure the safe, secure and humane management of prisoners while driving organisational performance, operational excellence and strategic reform.

Key responsibilities include

- Supporting the overall management and performance of correctional centre operations.
- Leading strategic and operational initiatives that enhance safety, security and prisoner outcomes.
- Driving compliance with legislative, regulatory and operational requirements.
- Championing cultural change, continuous improvement and high-performance practices.
- Managing people, resources, budgets and operational risks.
- Supporting industrial relations, workforce development, health and safety, and employee wellbeing initiatives.
- Acting in higher positions when required and participating in on-call arrangements.

About You To be successful, you will bring:





- Significant leadership experience managing diverse groups within a custodial or similarly complex operational environment.
- Proven capability leading organisational change and implementing policies, procedures and business improvements.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing workforce performance, budgets and operational resources.
- Sound knowledge of sentence management, rehabilitation programs and correctional services delivery.
- A strong understanding of the criminal justice system and contemporary correctional practices.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders.
- A Diploma of Correctional Administration, Advanced Diploma, or other equivalent relevant qualification.
