Wenona is seeking to appoint an exceptional and visionary leader as Director of Music (K-12) from the commencement of 2027.

A proven educator with considerable experience, the successful candidate will have an outstanding record as a music teacher and conductor, demonstrating visionary leadership and the ability to inspire and support a talented team of music educators. With the launch of our strategic plan in 2026 and the development of the campus master plan, including performing arts facilities, this is an exciting time to join Wenona and lead the next chapter.

The Director of Music is responsible for leading academic, co-curricular and performance music at Wenona and creating a learning environment which will challenge, motivate and engage our girls from Kindergarten to Year 12.

The Director of Music will be expected to undertake a teaching and conducting role within the School with responsibilities to be determined by the relevant strengths and experience of the chosen applicant.

The Position

- Lead a culture of musical excellence and endeavour that encourages high levels of participation and provides rich learning opportunities through academic and co-curricular pursuits and pathways
- Lead the strategic direction and future vision for Music at Wenona, strengthening academic and co-curricular programs
- Ensure high standards of music education across classroom instruction, co-curricular ensembles and individual instrumental programs
- Work collaboratively with the Junior School Music Coordinator to ensure a strong and coherent K-12 curriculum pathway, including strong transition points for entry years
- Collaborate with the Head of Co-Curricular Music to regularly review the co-curricular Music offerings with a focus on remaining contemporary, meeting student needs and utilising staff talents and expertise




- Work collaboratively with the Head of Drama and Head of Co-Curricular Music to plan the Musical and major Performing Arts events
- Support, develop and effectively lead the Music Department
- Contribution to curriculum leadership alongside other Heads of Department at Wenona

This is a leadership position at Wenona, with a level 2 leadership allocation provided. This position will commence in Term 1, 2027 with an initial appointment period of five (5) years until the end of Term 4, 2031. The ongoing nature of this position will be reviewed in Term 3, 2031.
