Support Worker Needed – Brisbane City | Regular 1:1 Support | ABN Required

QU Services is seeking a calm, patient and reliable Support Worker for an adult NDIS participant located in Brisbane City.

The participant lives with severe ME/CFS, which significantly affects their energy and physical capacity. They are predominantly bedbound and require a support worker who understands the importance of working at the participant’s pace and respecting their energy limitations.

The focus of the support is to reduce physical and mental demands, assist with everyday tasks and help the participant conserve their available energy.

We are looking for a consistent regular support worker who can build trust and become familiar with the participant’s needs and routine.

About the role

- Approximately 5 hours of support per day
- Regular ongoing 1:1 support
- Located in Brisbane City
- Assist with practical household and daily-living tasks
- Work calmly and quietly when required
- Follow the participant’s lead regarding conversation and interaction
- Recognise when the participant is becoming tired or overwhelmed and adjust the support accordingly
- Provide person-centred and trauma-informed support
- Avoid unnecessarily placing additional physical or mental demands on the participant

This is not a role where the participant should be pushed or constantly encouraged to do more. Because of severe ME/CFS, even excessive conversation, questions and decision-making can use significant energy.



A successful shift may sometimes involve quietly completing practical tasks while allowing the participant to rest.

We are looking for someone who is:

- Calm, patient and gentle
- Reliable and consistent
- Comfortable working independently
- Respectful of personal boundaries
- Able to take initiative with routine tasks without constantly requiring direction
- Understanding of fluctuating capacity
- Willing to learn about severe ME/CFS and post-exertional malaise (PEM)
- Experienced with trauma-informed and person-centred support

Previous experience supporting people with ME/CFS, complex physical disability, trauma-related support needs or predominantly bedbound participants would be highly regarded.

- Appropriate insurance for independent support work
- Reliable and qualified
- Driver’s licence and vehicle preferred
