Role Description The Doorways Caseworker is a part-time, in office role based in Miranda, NSW, providing client-centered support to individuals and families experiencing financial hardship, housing instability, or social isolation. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting intake assessments, developing support plans, and connecting clients with emergency relief, referrals, and community resources.

The role involves maintaining accurate case notes and records, coordinating with internal and external service providers, and advocating for clients to access appropriate services.

Caseworker also supports the delivery of practical assistance (such as food and bill support), contributes to local community initiatives,



and participates in team meetings and continuous improvement activities.

Qualifications

- Demonstrated experience in casework, social services, or community work, including client assessment, referral, and advocacy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build respectful, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive relationships.
- Organizational and administrative skills, including maintaining accurate records, managing time effectively, and working within service guidelines.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and develop positive relationships with local service providers and community stakeholders.
- Sound problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills, with the ability to respond calmly and professionally in challenging situations.
- Commitment to The Salvation Army’s mission and values, with an understanding of, or willingness to learn about, strengths-based and person-centered practice.
- Basic computer literacy, including use of email, case management systems, and standard office applications.
- Relevant qualifications in social work, community services, or a related field (or equivalent experience), and eligibility to work in Australia; Working With Children Check and police check (or ability to obtain) may be required.
