Oak Park Children's Centre is an early childhood education and care service located in Oak Park, Victoria. We provide education and care for young children in a safe, inclusive and supportive environment. Our educators work collaboratively to deliver developmentally appropriate learning programs, support children's wellbeing and maintain positive relationships with children and families.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Early Childhood Teacher to join our team on a full time basis. The successful applicant will plan, implement and evaluate play-based educational programs for children, document children's learning and development, maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment, and work closely with educators, families and management.

The position requires sound knowledge of early childhood education principles, approved learning frameworks, child development, regulatory requirements and reflective teaching practice.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Plan, develop, implement and evaluate developmentally appropriate, play-based educational programs that support children’s social, emotional, intellectual, language and physical development.

· Plan and structure learning experiences in both indoor and outdoor environments, using a variety of materials, resources and equipment to support children’s learning and development.

· Develop curriculum and learning experiences in accordance with the Early Years Learning Framework, the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework and the service’s educational philosophy.

· Promote children’s early literacy, numeracy and language development through storytelling, role play, songs, rhymes, music, art, informal discussions and other play-based learning activities.

· Provide experiences and activities that develop children’s motor skills, creativity, confidence, understanding, cooperative skills and social interaction.





· Use intentional teaching practices to guide children through play, routines, group experiences and individual learning opportunities.

· Observe, assess and document children’s learning, interests, strengths and developmental progress, and use this information to guide future curriculum planning.

· Prepare and maintain individual and group learning records, observations, assessments, program documentation and progress reports.

· Observe children’s health, nutrition, welfare and safety needs and identify signs of ill health, emotional difficulties, developmental concerns, disabilities or other factors that may affect their learning and progress.

· Identify children who may require additional support and work with families, educators and relevant professionals to develop and implement appropriate support strategies.

· Create and maintain a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment that supports children’s agency, participation, wellbeing and sense of belonging.

· Build respectful and responsive relationships with children and support their individual needs, interests, cultural backgrounds and stages of development.

· Communicate regularly with parents and guardians and conduct parent meetings to discuss children’s learning, development, progress, wellbeing and support needs.

· Collaborate with educators and management to plan educational programs, review teaching practices and maintain consistent approaches to education and care.

· Provide professional guidance, mentoring and support to educators in relation to curriculum planning, observations, educational documentation and teaching practices.

· Contribute to the service’s Quality Improvement Plan,



self-assessment processes and continuous improvement activities.

· Participate in staff meetings, parent meetings, professional development, family events and community or family support programs, as appropriate.

· Ensure educational practices comply with the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations, the National Quality Standard, child-safe requirements and the service’s policies and procedures.

· Maintain appropriate supervision and follow applicable health, hygiene, safety, child protection and duty of care requirements.

· Maintain accurate, confidential and up-to-date records relating to children, families, educational programs and regulatory requirements.

THE ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

· An ACECQA-approved early childhood teaching qualification, or a qualification assessed by ACECQA as equivalent.

· Current Victorian Institute of Teaching registration, or eligibility to obtain and maintain registration before commencing employment.

· At least 1 year of relevant professional experience as an Early Childhood Teacher or in a closely related early childhood education role.

· Sound knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework, the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework, the National Quality Standard and relevant education and care legislation.

· Demonstrated ability to plan, deliver, document and evaluate educational programs for young children.

· Strong understanding of child development, inclusive practice, child safety, supervision and duty of care.

· Current first aid, anaphylaxis and emergency asthma management qualifications, or willingness and ability to obtain them before commencing employment.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, educators and management.

· Ability to work collaboratively as part of an early childhood education team.

· High level of professionalism, reliability, organisation and attention to detail.

Pay: $79,000.00 – $84,000.00 per year
