Position: Electrical Engineer

Position Summary The Electrical Engineer will support the planning, design review, and construction of electrical infrastructure associated with large scale projects in Melbourne. This includes high voltage systems, traction power systems, low voltage distribution, lighting, and electrical interfaces with signalling, communications, and tunnel systems.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide technical expertise on electrical systems across design and construction phases.
- Review and assess electrical design documentation, specifications, and reports for compliance with project requirements and standards.
- Liaise with design consultants, contractors, and government stakeholders to ensure electrical works are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
- Conduct site inspections and provide engineering support during construction, testing, and commissioning.
- Support the integration of electrical systems with broader rail infrastructure, including signalling and communications.
- Participate in risk assessments, constructability reviews, and value engineering exercises.
- Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards in all electrical engineering activities.
- Prepare technical documentation, including reports, tender specifications, and approval submissions.




- Monitor and report on project progress, electrical engineering issues, and resolution strategies.

Key Selection Criteria

Essential

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in large infrastructure or rail projects.
- Sound understanding of HV/LV power systems, earthing systems, HV cable installation, lighting, control systems, and electrical safety.
- Familiarity with applicable Australian standards and transport industry regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in using relevant electrical engineering and design software.

Desirable

- Registered Professional Engineer (RPEng) or Chartered status (CPEng) is advantageous.
- Exposure to sustainable design practices and energy-efficient systems.

Contract Terms

- Hours: Full Time (40 hours/week)
- Remuneration: Competitive salary commensurate with experience
- Work Arrangement: Site based role.
